What We Do & Why

What We Do

At TRK Care, we provide children in foster care with a TRK Care Pack through Australian Foster Agencies. Each pack includes a range of thoughtfully selected products that support our mission of nurturing children’s emotional well-being.

These packs focus on key well-being strategies designed to help equip children for the future by:

  • Recognising emotions and learning how to effectively process them

  • Highlighting the importance of self-care by fostering healthy routines around sleep, nutrition, and movement

  • Cultivating a growth mindset, self-confidence, and gratitude practice

  • Inspiring resilience so children can overcome challenges and keep moving forward

  • Using positive affirmations to rewire the brain and create new thought patterns that strengthen confidence, resilience, and optimism

Each TRK Care Pack features products from trusted Australian brands with backgrounds in psychology, education, and growth mindset development. Every item is carefully selected and backed by research to support children’s emotional growth and well-being.

With a variety of items such as journals that encourage drawing and writing, colouring activities, and reading materials, each pack allows children to engage in ways that suit their individual learning styles — all while nurturing emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and a growth mindset.

Why

At TRK Care, our mission goes beyond providing care packs — we aim to raise greater awareness of youth mental health.

  • There are more and more children entering the foster system, yet fewer carers available to support them.

  • Many of these children face significant emotional challenges, often without the tools or resources to manage them.

Mental health concerns are widespread among young people:

  • According to Beyond Blue, one in four young people experience mental health issues, and around 75% of all serious mental health conditions in adulthood begin before the age of 24.

  • Kids Helpline reports that the top two concerns raised by young people are mental health and emotional well-being — highlighting just how critical early support can be.

Healthy habits play a vital role in supporting mental well-being:

  • Healthdirect notes that physical activity, nutritious eating, and quality sleep are essential for children’s mental health.

  • Raising Children Network emphasises that helping kids recognise and manage their emotions builds the foundation for lifelong emotional balance.

Research shows that simple, mindful practices make a big difference:

  • Gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness have been shown to improve overall happiness and well-being. Research from Harvard Health Publishing links gratitude with greater emotional and social well-being, better sleep quality, and lower rates of depression.

  • Journaling helps children and adults organise thoughts, reduce stress, and gain mental clarity. Studies from the University of Rochester Medical Center show that gratitude journaling activates reward pathways in the brain and supports improved mood and overall mental health.

  • Research shows that developing a growth mindset helps children build resilience, confidence, and a love for learning. Studies from PLOS Mental Health and Verywell Mind highlight that children with a growth mindset are more adaptable, experience greater well-being, and see challenges as opportunities to grow.

  • Positive affirmations can help reframe negative thoughts and strengthen self-belief. Research from MentalHealth.com explains that affirmations can create new neural pathways in the brain — literally helping to rewire the mind for confidence, resilience, and optimism.

Every product featured in a TRK Care Pack is sourced from brands that share our mission to support children’s emotional well-being. We’re inspired by their stories and proud to collaborate with small businesses making a difference.

While all products are supported by research and evidence-based practices, they are not intended to replace professional advice from a qualified health professional. Always seek professional guidance when addressing any mental health concerns.
